Movement, play and scouting skills during Cool Museums Week
Cuckoo Jam at the Music Institute
Käkisalmi Museum is participating in the regional Cool Museums (Päheet Museot) themed week by organising ”KäkiJampi”, aimed at primary school-aged children, in Heinola daily from 27 to 28 June and from 30 June to 5 July 2026 at 12 noon. The programme will be held in the courtyard of the Heinola Music Institute and is free of charge for visitors to Käkisalmi Museum.
KäkiJamppi offers children a 45-minute sports and activity session that combines games, outdoor activities and Scouting skills. The leaders are Viivi and Jonna, Scouts from Kymen Vartijat, who will introduce the participants to building a lean-to shelter, group games and the basics of Scouting, among other things.
The aim of the activity is to offer children fun things to do together, new experiences and an opportunity to get to know scouting in a relaxed environment. The maximum group size is 12 children, so that every participant can be included safely and with guidance.
Meanwhile, adults can explore the exhibitions at the Käkisalmi Museum or visit the exhibition on display at the Heinola Institute of Music From Käkisalmi towards the heights – Erkki Melartin, which tells about the life and work of the composer Erkki Melartin.
The theme of the Great Museums Week is play and childhood in museums. ”KäkiJamppi” offers families with children the opportunity to combine cultural experiences and children's own activities into a single summer day trip destination in Heinola.
