Erkki Melartin was also a visual artist
Erkki Melartin was also a talented visual artist who recorded his experiences by sketching them in pads and taking many photographs. Later, he painted memorable subjects into canvases or drawings.
Melarti organised two exhibitions during his lifetime, the last of which was in 1937, the same year he died.
The Melartin exhibition features a wealth of authentic material from private collections. On display are photographs, bookplates, sheet music covers and paintings, among other things. Also included in the exhibition are two portraits of Melartin painted by the artist Kaarlo Otra.
