Dear friend of the Käkisalmi festivals

Guests at the Käkisalmi celebrations in the 1950s.
The Käkisalmi Festival has brought together Karelians and their friends since 1947. Now we want to gather the festival's rich history into a single exhibition at the Käkisalmi Museum – and we need your help to do it.
If you have photographs from the Käkisalmi celebrations over the years, we hope you would share them with us. We are especially looking for photographs from the 1950s to the 1980s. The pictures can be snapshots of the celebration's programme, the audience, performers, volunteers or the atmosphere – every picture is an important piece of our shared history.
You can participate like this:
-
Bring the photos to the museum during opening hours – we will scan them and return the originals to you.
-
Send the digital images by email to: saatio@kakisalmi.fi
-
Post copies to: Käkisalmi-museo, Kauppakatu 9, 1800 Heinola
Photographs are being collected until 15 October 2025. The exhibition is planned to open before the end of this year, and it would be a pleasure to include your memories.
Thank you for helping us to record the story of the Käkisalmi celebrations for future generations!
Yours faithfully,
Kari Kaikkonen
