The Käkisalmi Museum is a cultural center run by the Käkisalmi Foundation, which brings out The city of Käkisalmi and the rich traditions of Karelian culture in the heart of Heinola.

The museum is a part of Heinola’s cultural center on Kauppakatu. Together with the city library, the city museum, the art museum and The Aschan House, it creates a versatile for the wonderful experiences of the environment.

Heinola and Karelian heritage

After the Second World War, Heinola served as an important settlement for evacuees from Käkisalmi, and the town’s population doubled when Karelians settled in the area.
